        ในการก่อนกระบี่เล่มนี้เคยใช้นามเฉิงอิ่งอยู่ในการครอบครองของปฐมจักรพรรดิแห่งราชวงศ์ซาง พระเจ้าถังจื่อหลู ต่อมาปรากฏอยู่ในมือจอมยุทธ์แห่งแคว้นเว่ยนามว่าข่งโจว บันทึกประวัติศาสตร์จาก “ข่งโจวรำกระบี่เฉิงอิ่ง”โดย นักวิจารณ์กระบี่แห่งยุค ท่านเลี่ยจื่อ อธิบายลักษณะของกระบี่ไว้ว่า

        “....ด้ามจับสลัดด้วยลวดลายสวยงาม กลับมีเงากระบี่เพียงเลือนรางรำไร คมมีดดูคล้ายแก้วใส สามารถมองทะลุปรุโปร่ง มองเห็นคล้ายมี แต่กลับไม่มีคมกระบี่ ชั่วพริบตาที่แสงสว่างแทนที่ความมืดบนผืนฟ้า เงาลักษณ์กระบี่เลือนรางอยู่รำไร เงากระบี่คงอยู่เพียงครู่สั้นๆ ก็ค่อยๆ หายไปตามการมาเยือนของทิวาวัน จวบจนย่ำสนธยา ท้องฟ้าค่อยๆ มืดลง ชั่วพริบตาที่ราตรีเข้าแทนที่ทิวา เงากระบี่อันเลื่อนลอยนั้นก็ปรากฏซ้ำอีกครั้ง ท้องฟ้ายิ่งมืด เงาลักษณ์กระบี่คืนกลับสู่ภาวะไร้สภาพ ล่องหนหายไปอีกครั้งดั่งเงาที่หายไปพร้อมดวงอาทิตย์ที่ลาลับฟ้า…”

        ใบมีดกระบี่เจียระไนจากศิลาเหมันต์จากธารน้ำแข็ง ศิลาเหมันต์เป็นแร่พิเศษมีลักษณะโปร่งใส คนนิรนามใช้กระดูกมังกรขัดแท่งศิลาทีละครั้งอย่างประณีต ใช้ดวงใจสัมผัสรูปลักษณ์ ตระหนักในดวงจิตว่ามันมีลักษณะคล้ายใบมีด จึงใช้หินแร่สำริดตีรูปเป็นฐานจับกระบี่ในเวลาต่อมา
